Vanessa Hudgens is currently being investigated by police after she posted a photo online of an illegal rock carving in Sedona, Arizona.
The “Grease: Live!” star used her personal Instagram account to post her and her boyfriend Austin Butler’s name into a rock that’s allegedly part of the Red Rock Ranger District of the Ccocnino National Forest. The carving was inside a heart, with “Austin + Vanessa” written inside.
The post has since been removed from the 27-year-old actress’ Instagram account.
According to CNN, the maximum fine for the act is $5,000 and/or six months in jail.
“On Monday, Feb.15, we became aware — via media and public reports — of an Instagram posting by Vanessa Hudgens showing a scratching or carving of a heart with two names in it on a rock that allegedly is on the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest,” Coconino National Forest spokesman Brady Smith said in a statement.
Investigations are ongoing, and Hudgens has not yet released a statement on the matter.
“I can say that the issue of people carving their names and other things in rocks in the Sedona and surrounding area is always a challenge we face, and (we) try to inform people about its destructive nature.” Smith Sais, adding that they have found that if one person carves, others could be encouraged to do the same.
“Carving of any kind affects the natural beauty of the area,” he added.
